There have been many lessons we’ve learned since the pandemic, and one of those lessons is stocking up on supplies with extra leg room.
Having a steady supply of ingredients is key when it comes to running a successful business in the food industry. Or, in any industry really! Ever since the pandemic many of us have learned how necessary it is to really project into the future and have our supply room fully stocked to avoid stress or loss of sales later on. In this article we’re going to review all the reasons why it's necessary to order dry ingredients in bulk and why we want a hefty supply of our essential ingredients well in advance.

Ingredients that Don't Spoil
We especially want to stock up on ingredients that don’t spoil and that are packaged well to remain fresh for months on end. As long as we have the storage space for it, or can find a storage space for our essential dry ingredients like coconut, chocolate chips and granola, we want to make sure we have at least 6 months supply at our fingertips. This way our chefs and bakers will have all the ingredients they need to keep those hungry customers happy.

The Future is Unpredictable
We’ve learned how unpredictable the future can be. There are ways we can prepare for several types of positive and negative events and there are ways in which we can not. We have to leave room for the element of surprise since we can’t control everything. That being said, we can hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
We don’t want to run out of ingredients and get stuck on a long waiting list, which inevitably drives us to buy ingredients at a smaller quantity and a higher price. For this reason it's essential for both large and small businesses to prepare in advance and stock up on bulk dry ingredients.
You may also want to consider having a disaster plan in order for your business.

Reduce that Stress
When we prepare in advance we are reducing those stressful situations from arising and knocking us off our feet. When we’re under stress we don’t always necessarily make the wisest decisions, nor is it great for our health or business. For this reason, we strongly recommend getting your stock list in order and having the supplies you need far in advance before you’re running your last few batches, which can lead to kitchen mayhem.
